Epilox Project Profile – Johnson’s Epoxy Flooring
When it comes to industrial and commercial flooring solutions, durability, and performance are key. This project also had the added benefit of impressive aesthetics women into the large space. Johnsons Flooring, an epoxy specialist within the flooring industry, recently completed a standout epoxy flooring project at a large car repair warehouse in Noble Park.
Johnsons Flooring is a leading flooring specialist with extensive experience in epoxy coatings, polished concrete, and industrial flooring solutions. They provide customized flooring services for a wide range of industries, including automotive, commercial, retail, and industrial sectors.
This project utilized Epilox HS, a high-performance epoxy resin system from our flooring range, to deliver a seamless, hard-wearing, and visually striking floor surface.
Project Overview
The client required a long-lasting, chemical-resistant, and easy-to-maintain flooring solution that could withstand the daily demands of a busy car repair workshop. Given the constant exposure to heavy machinery, vehicle fluids, foot traffic, and high impact loads, the flooring had to be robust and resistant to wear and tear.
Johnsons Flooring, who specialise in industrial coatings and seamless flooring solutions, chose Epilox HS for the job —a premium two-part epoxy system designed for high-performance industrial applications.
The project featured a two-tone colour application, with sections of the warehouse coated in a vibrant blue and grey epoxy. This was done to distinguish different work zones within the workshop, ensuring an organized and efficient workspace that also looks great. Given the need for precision, the application was done in separate stages to ensure clean transitions between the two colours, and a flawless finish.
The result? A glossy, impact-resistant, and chemical-resistant surface that enhances both functionality and aesthetics within the workshop.
Why Epilox HS?
RLA’s Epilox HS, is an industry-leading epoxy system designed for a wide range of industrial flooring applications. It is the perfect choice for workshops, warehouses, automotive service centers, and high-traffic commercial areas.
Epilox HS has:
High Durability & Impact Resistance
Epilox provides exceptional strength, making it resistant to heavy machinery, tool drops, and constant vehicular traffic—all critical requirements for a car repair workshop.
Chemical & Stain Resistance
Automotive repair warehouses often deal with oils, fuels, chemicals, and solvents. Epilox’s impervious nature ensures spills do not penetrate the flooring, making cleaning and maintenance easy.
Seamless & Non-Porous Surface
Unlike traditional concrete floors that can crack and absorb spills, Epilox creates a seamless, smooth surface that looks fantastic, and prevents dust accumulation.
Aesthetic Appeal
The glossy blue and grey finish chosen for this project not only defines work areas but also improves the aesthetics of the warehouse space, which could easily be drab and boring, creating a brighter and more inviting workspace.
Fast Application & Cure Time
Downtime is costly in an industrial or commercial setting. Epilox cures efficiently, allowing for quick turnaround times and minimal disruption to business operations.
The Application Process
Applying an epoxy flooring system like Epilox requires proper adhesion to the details of the technical data sheet to ensure a flawless, long-lasting result.
Step 1: Surface Preparation
Before the epoxy is applied, the concrete substrate must be properly prepared. This involves:
Grinding the surface to remove contaminants and create an optimal bonding profile.
Repairing any cracks or imperfections to ensure a smooth application.
Cleaning the area thoroughly to remove dust and debris.
Step 2: Primer Application
A high-quality epoxy primer is applied to enhance adhesion and seal the porous concrete surface.
Step 3: Epoxy Coating Application
The blue and grey Epilox epoxy coatings were applied in separate stages to achieve crisp, clean transitions.
The first coat of Epilox HS was poured and evenly spread using a towel.
After curing, a second coat was applied for additional thickness, durability, and gloss.
Step 4: Final Inspection & Curing
Once fully cured, the floor underwent a final quality check, ensuring a smooth, bubble-free, and uniform surface ready for use.
The Final Outcome
This project highlights how expert application and premium epoxy technology can transform an industrial space into a functional, durable, and visually striking environment.
The blue and grey epoxy zones provide a professional, organized, and visually appealing workspace.
The high-gloss, impact-resistant, and chemical-resistant surface ensures long-term durability and easy maintenance.
The non-porous, seamless finish enhances safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in the workshop.
The Epilox epoxy flooring project by Johnsons Flooring in Noble Park showcases the power of premium epoxy technology and expert craftsmanship. With enhanced durability, chemical resistance, and aesthetic appeal, this flooring solution ensures the car repair workshop is equipped to handle heavy use while maintaining a professional, clean, and safe environment.
