Conventional Commercial Carpet Installation Using Roberts Flooring Adhesives

ADHESIVES, EQUIPMENT AND UNDERLAYS
For installing Jute backed, Polypropylene "Action Bac", Latex backed, woven and tufted carpets, and carpet gripper .

WARRANTY
Provide normal manufactures warranty, extendable for a period of 5 years, covering replacement of adhesive materials together with reimbursement of reasonable reinstallation charges to the installing contractor, if adhesive bond failure is determined within the warranted period, providing Roberts conditions are met regarding recommended equipment, materials and techniques.

SUBFLOOR AND CARPET SEAM PREPARATION
All subfloor surfaces shall be prepared in accordance with Australian Standard AS/NZS 2455.1.1995 -"Textile Floor Coverings Laying Practice".

Adhesive shall be Roberts Latex 679 Carpet Adhesive for adhering pad underlay to the subfloor and preparation of the edges of the carpet seams. Carpet seaming tape shall be Roberts Super Tape 50-331 or Roberts Speed Seam Tape 50-365.

CARPET SEAMING METHOD
Equipment Required

  • Safety Straightedge (1-4 metre long)
  • Carpet Seaming Iron

  • Speed Seam Computer Controlled Seaming Unit
  • Pile Napping Shears
  • Roberts Super Tape 50-331

    or

  • Roberts Speed Seam Tape 50-365

APPLICATION OF ADHESIVE, CARPET TAPE, INSTALLATION OF CARPET GRIPPER
AND CARPET
Spread Roberts 679 Carpet Latex Adhesive to the subfloor for approx 100mm either side of the pad underlay seams and approx 100mm wide down the middle of each width of pad underlay using a roller or brush to apply with the carpet gripper fixed around the perimeters of the carpet area in accordance with Roberts published instructions.

Prepare the carpet seams by neatly trimming the edges if deemed necessary and apply a bead of Roberts 679 Carpet Latex Adhesive along both sides of the carpet seam working the adhesive well into the raw edges.

For the application of the Roberts Super Tape 50-331 and Roberts Speed Seam Tape 50-365. Roberts Technical Data Sheets are available for these two tapes.
